The Real You
By Liz Hazzard. A poem from the perspective of a spouse, moving from confusion to acceptance.

I first had suspicions, though I wasn't sure why,
Something was different, I couldn't say why.
Then one day I discovered your feminine clothes,
And slowly the truth of your life, it arose. The questions came flooding — who are you, what's real?
How do I understand all that you feel?
But slowly I've learned, and slowly I've grown,
To love the true person that you have now shown.I will support the real person inside of you.
